Product Description From the Manufacturer
Pinzon is proud to present the Penguin Wine Opener--a reliable and easy-to-use wine opener. Simply follow these easy instructions to use the foil cutter, wine opener, and stopper, and you'll be opening bottles in no time.
To use the Pinzon Penguin Foil Cutter:
* Position the circular foil cutter over the top of the bottle.
* Press the sides of the cutter in lightly and twist a couple of times around the bottle.
* The foil top neatly removes to expose the cork.
To Use the Pinzon Penguin Wine Opener:
1. The sleek Penguin is designed to effortlessly remove a wine bottle cork.
2. Raise the lever and clamp the Penguin down over the neck of the bottle.
3. Grasp the rubberized inserts securely with one hand to hold the bottle steady.
4. Use the other hand to lower and then raise the lever in one smooth motion. (Although you cant see it, the corkscrew enters and pulls out the cork.)
5. With the lever up, lift the Penguin off the bottle. The cork will be inside the Penguin.
6. Lower and raise the lever again, and voilĂ ! The cork slides off the corkscrew.
Note: The Penguin can be used to open wines bottled with regular corks, but careful use is advised when opening bottles with synthetic corks.
To Use the Pinzon Penguin Stopper:
* The stopper preserves for days on end the bouquet and flavor of a partially consumed bottle of wine.
* Plastic ridges on the stopper collar help provide an airtight seal.
To Replace a Cork Screw on the Pinzon Penguin Opener:
* Raise the lever and find the largest of three Philips screws in the body of the Penguin.
* Unscrew the largest Philips screw to release the cork screw.
* Pull out the Penguin screw and insert the replacement into underneath the lever. Then, re-insert and screw in the Philips screw where it was removed from.
Cleaning Instructions:
* Wipe clean with a damp towel and let air dry. Do not put into dishwasher.

PERFECTLY EASY November 8, 2006 Peggy (Norfolk, VA United States) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I own several styles and more expensive corkscrews, but this one is effortless. The foil cutter takes seconds to perfectly cut, then a few more seconds and you're pouring the wine. What really impressed me was the absolute ease of removing those usually challenging synthetic hard globs. You can barely tell the pucture site, so the more creative types could use real corks for wreaths, etc. The added bonus of an extra screw and a wine saver make this product an absolute fantastic buy. If it doesn't hold up, I'll write an addendum. My experience with their other products is also of high regard.
Put your cork screw away! November 15, 2006 DK9777 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have the hardest time with those old-fashioned wine openers. First you have to screw it into the cork. Then you have to pull the cork out. Then you have to take the cork back off the corkscrew. The whole process must take two or three minutes. It's excruciating! How can any reasonable person be expected to spend that much time opening the bottle?
When I get my wine home, it's party time, and I want the bottle popped and read to go in a minute or less. That's why I decided to try the Pinzon Penguin Wine Opener Gift Set, and, OH BOY, was I impressed. This device has met my every expectation! It opens wine!! And it opens it quick. No more agonizing minutes spent with the corkscrew. Those days are long behind me thanks to the Pinzon Penguin. HOORAY!!!
AMAZING! December 26, 2006 Eric Zaluski (Lexington, KY USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this item for a family gift exchange. Soon after the exchange, we wanted to try out the wine opener...WOW!!! It is almost too easy....several different wine bottles of all different styles were opened with ease in just seconds...I was so impressed that I have gone ahead and orderd one for myself and four more for gifts...i strongly recommend
Nice, easy November 28, 2008 Stacia R. Roesler (Alexandria, VA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We tested this for a couple of weeks in comparison to our regular "rabbit" opener, which we've been using for a couple of years. Some people in my family liked this one better, others liked the rabbit better. The major issue seemed to have to do with torque to open it: some folks thought pushing down and pulling up the lever on this one was easier, others thought the rabbit easier. Personally, I thought they were about equal. That being said, I like either of these better than I like most other types of wine openers---they're fast and easy! This one does come with the best foil cutter I've ever run across though.
