Amazon.com Review This Italian-made 8-inch corkscrew is a comfortable fit for larger hands and wine bottles. For durability, the corkscrew is constructed of all-metal parts and chrome-plated for a brilliant shine and modern look. A sharpened spiral makes it easier to pierce corks or plastic bottle stoppers in just the right spot, and double levers raise to anywhere between 45 and 90 degrees as you twist the spiral into a cork. The body of the corkscrew and part of the levers are covered with a soft grey rubber coating for a reliable, no-slip grip. To prevent bottles from cracking and wine from splashing during opening, the underside of the corkscrew is fitted with a plastic insert as well. This bar tool has a bottle cap lifter in its oval loop handle, and is covered by a lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Very Solid February 6, 2005 J Nog (Meriden, CT USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a very well made corkscrew. It's very solid and well balanced, and the gear action is smooth. Even the toughest corks come out effortlessly. When you use this, it just feels like a solid unit that will last for many years. I've had mine for about a year, and have used it 40-50 times, and it's still looks and works like new. I've been through several of these manual corkscrews over the years, and this is the best I've tried. Well worth the price.
A serious corkscrew March 23, 2008 Richard Smallwood (Huntsville, AL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a real corkscrew! For years I have bought various brands and types of corkscrews because I believed that all were similar and that they all would take plenty of muscle to "work." This corkscrew proves that that belief is not so. The screw part is super sharp so you can penetrate the cork quickly without much effort. The gearing on the handles is smooth and requires so little effort to work that for the first time ever, corks are REALLY fun to remove. Even the artificial ones are fun to remove.
There is a plastic liner where the corkscrew meets the bottle so there is no danger of cracking glass on the bottle. And, even though the pictures don't show it, the loop handle can be used to open crimped bottle caps (like those on glass beer and Coke bottles).
All in all I am very happy with my purchase and I expect to continue to be for years to come.
Very nice. August 8, 2008 Gordon M. Wagner (Suburbia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Dig into your savings and buy a decent corkscrew for a change. This one is as nice as I've seen for the money. Life to too short to use cheap barware. This isn't extravagant but it is well put together and ought to last indefinitely. This would also make a very nice gift for someone who enjoys wine.
Finally, a corkscrew I will spend the rest of my life with January 7, 2010 A. Morton This is just awesome. I have tried a variety of corkscrews, but this is the only one that's enjoyable to use. Usually I just go through the top foil with this and have not had a problem with any foil bits getting in wine. I love saving the step of removing it. It seems sturdy, it is very easy to turn and although I haven't had any seriously crumbly corks to deal with since I got it a year ago, I think it would deal with them just fine too.
The only drawback is the arms go all the way up sometimes before it's screwed far enough into the cork so I have to lift the cork partway out then turn it one more time, but it doesn't impact my happiness with the product.

This opener works well on most natural and artificial corks; however, it will not open some of the artificial corks. When trying to open them, the cork screw just pulls out.
